A general rule of thumb is a keyword density of 1-2%. So for a 1,000 word post, you should aim to use your exact target keyword about 10 to 20 times. Make sure to put it in the H1, H2s, and the first paragraph!
Keyword density is a dinosaur metric. Modern search engines use natural language processing (NLP) and entity relationships. Stop counting keywords. Instead, ensure your content achieves 'Information Gain'—providing insights, original data, or expert quotes that don't exist in the current top 10 results. Structure the page to answer the user intent directly, establishing Topical Authority rather than manipulating text strings.
To combat zero-click searches, try to write more click-baity titles that force the user to visit your site. Also, focus on writing longer content so Google has more to index.
You cannot trick users into clicking if the AI provides the answer. Adapt to Zero-Click Search by optimizing for Brand Mentions and Entity SEO within the AI Overviews themselves. Ensure you are the cited source. Shift your content strategy away from purely informational queries (which AI answers perfectly) and pivot towards high-conviction, opinionated, experience-driven content (which AI cannot replicate).
